Societatea Astronomică Română de Meteori derulează campania „Astronomia: pasiune, educație, cercetare”, un proiect finanțat de Ministerul Tineretului și Sportului, desfășurat în colaborare cu Biblioteca Județeană I.H. Rădulescu, Fundația Județeană pentru Tineret Dâmbovița și Columna TV.
În cadrul proiectului, până pe data de 9 octombrie vor avea loc în școli și licee din orașul Târgoviște și din județul Dâmbovița, precum și la Biblioteca Județeană I.H. Rădulescu și Casa Tineretului, sesiuni de prezentări și seminarii, cu proiecții de program de planetariu și observații prin telescop (astronomie generală, mișcarea bolții cerești, constelații și orientare pe bolta cerului, observarea evenimentelor și fenomenelor astronomice, fond de carte astronomică, expoziție de fotografie astronomică) dar și activități gen club/cerc tehnico-aplicativ și sesiuni de observații nocturne ale bolții cerești (folosirea hărții cerești, construcția unei planisfere, construcția unei lunete, construcție machete radiotelescop, fotografierea cerului nocturn, a fenomenelor și evenimentelor astronomice, folosirea practică a lunetelor și telescoapelor, identificarea constelațiilor și a obiectelor cosmice pe cerul nopții). De asemenea, pentru elevii din anii terminali de liceu și studenți, se vor organiza ateliere de lucru și seminarii și o emisiune tv pe tema implicării acestora în programe simple de cercetare (rolul astronomiei în cercetare, proiecte de observații astronomice și de cercetare accesibile tinerilor, participarea tinerilor la conferințe și evenimente astronomice naționale și internaționale).
Campania se va încheia cu o conferința națională de patru zile organizată cu ocazia Zilei Internaționale a Astronomiei (12 octombrie) la Plaiul Lisei în județul Brașov, în perioada 10-13 octombrie (rolul astronomiei în educația tinerilor, prezentarea rezultatelor proiectului și trasarea unor programe educativ-nonformale la nivel național, realizarea unui calendar de activități de astronomie și educație prin astronomie recomandate unităților de învățământ, bibliotecilor, palatelor copiilor, cluburilor și asociațiilor de astronomie, resurse materiale educative și echipamente astronomice, sesiuni de observații astronomice nocturne).
La proiect vor participa 220 de persoane din Târgoviște și județul Dâmbovița (atât din mediul urban cât și din mediul rural), precum și din țară, dintre care 180 de tineri cu vârsta între 14 și 35 de ani.
Instituțiile de învățământ și educative sau profesorii care doresc să găzduiască activități din cadrul campaniei sunt rugați să contacteze coordonatorul de proiect.
La conferința de la Plaiul Lisei pot participa reprezentanți ai instituțiilor de învățământ și culturale interesate, precum și reprezentanți de la observatoare astronomice, planetarii, asociații de astronomie, astronomi amatori și profesioniști.
