Redau un citat despre microripples (tot s-a mai vorbit recent):
The microripple:
It has a millimetre-spaced grid whose amplitude oscillates between 50A and 1A (figure 6). The solid angle of dispersion is several minutes of degree. The microripple is only visible by the method of the phase contrast (figure 10). From its solid angle, the microripple is a class of defect which will always be interesting to reduce because, neither turbulence, nor the atmospheric diffusion have comparable scattering angles. Optics that do not have a microripple will thus give always images more contrasted whatever the conditions of observation. 
Pe linga precizia generala a suprafetelor optice, se justifica lupta la nivel mondial a opticienilor de a face suprafete super fine.
