I try to answer both in a single post.
To be proficient in AI a programmer needs not less than 3 full years.
The problem is that AI market is scaled now to great servers and infrastructure.
It means you study 3 years to discover that you completely depends from those infrastructures.
Veeeeery bad!
Regarding the training of AI, there are a lot of different solutions, some supervised, other semisupervised, other not supervised.
Also you can use generative models and augmentation to build synthetic datasets.
We are not at the point in which AI are aggressive. But wait and see!
